Description
These boats have virtually disapeared. They were once used to collect oysters from the oyster dredgers on the Chesapeake Bay. Dredgers used boats called Skipjacks and would leave port on a Monday, not to return till the following weekend. While working the bay, the oystermen sold their catch to those Buyboats, like the Margaret, and they in turned returned to port each night with the catch. This vessel was photographed by me a few years ago in a port called Rock Hall, MD.
