The northern part of the state of Maine is primarily forest, lakes and streams. But from the air the most dominant and striking part of the landscape are all the logging roads. From the ground, one doesn't notice their prevalence, but you could walk them for days without seeing a modern convenience other than a 4x4 bouncing along.
