In horse country not all fences are painted white. in fact there seems to be a propensity for black fences. Perhaps because they blend in with natural surroundings much better than white. Or maybe it's because they are stained black and it's cheaper and easier to stain them. Who knows? There is probably some rural legend that explains the choice.
