Description
This is an image created from a very old photography and as such cannot be enraged much beyond an 16x20 with any clarity. This is probably one of the most famous steam boats to ply the waters of the Chesapeake Bay from the late 1800's to the mid 1900's.
Chester River Steamboat Co. formed in 1868, with
steamers George Law and Chester. It operated the Rock
Hall and Chester and Corsica Rivers.
The Company built the B. S. Ford in 1877 and the
Emma A. Ford in 1884. The Company was bought out
by the Maryland, Delaware & Virginia Railway Co, in
1904.
Steamer B. S. Ford, 164 ft./built in 1877 for Chester River
Steamboat Co. and ran excurs ions and freight to Chester
River. She was laid up in 1928 and in 1930 was made into a
barge of the same name.
