Description
Jarman Rakes ran a grist mill near this location in the early 1800s. To promote his business, he dammed the creek and allowed customers to fish for brook trout while they waited to have their corn and wheat ground. While the mill no longer exists, the dam and pond are still here and can be enjoyed from an observation deck next to the dam.The pond is located just past Mile Marker 163 going south on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. You can pull out and park on site. Walk down to the dam and put your hand in the water. You will see a 15 foot water fall.

Thanks Kevin, unfortunately I had no time to break out the fishing rod when I was there.
