Description
This red headed woodpecker ( a rare site for me) was busily protecting his hole in the wall from the ravages of an ornery blue jay. Not sure what the jay would have gotten out of the confrontation, but they fought for a half hour.

Just natural death on the tree's part Kevin. But even in death it continues to be an active part of the natural order of things.
